Using Keyboard Shortcuts
Writingmate has shortcuts for search, the sidebar, sending messages, and opening saved prompts.
Current shortcuts

Search with the command palette
Press Command+K on macOS or Ctrl+K on Windows and Linux to open Search. The palette contains three tabs:
- All shows matching chats, prompts, and the New chat action.
- Chats searches chat history and includes the New chat action.
- Prompts searches your saved prompts.
The command palette does not switch models, open settings, search files, or activate agents.
Open saved prompts
The default prompt command is /. Press it while the chat input is empty to open the command palette on the Prompts tab. Select a prompt to insert or run its saved instructions.
You can replace / with another key:
- Open your profile menu.
- Select Settings.
- Open Keyboard Shortcuts.
- Change Prompt command, then select Save Shortcuts.
Use a single key for the prompt command. The @ agent mention and # file command are not active shortcuts in the current chat interface.
Change how messages are sent
In Settings → Keyboard Shortcuts, set Send Message Key to one of these options:
- Enter: press
Enterto send andShift+Enterto add a new line. - Cmd/Ctrl + Enter: press
Command+Enteron macOS orCtrl+Enteron Windows and Linux to send. PressEnterfor a new line.
Select Save Shortcuts after changing the setting. Reset to defaults restores Enter for sending and / for saved prompts.
