Writingmate Terms of Service
Last updated: May 5, 2026
These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of Writingmate.ai, including the Writingmate web app, browser extension, developer API keys, OpenAI-compatible API, media generation features, model access, subscriptions, and related services.
By using Writingmate, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
1. Who may use Writingmate
You may use Writingmate only if you can legally enter into these terms and comply with all applicable laws. You are responsible for activity under your account, workspace, API keys, and payment method.
You must keep your login credentials and API keys secure. You may not share, publish, resell, or transfer your API keys except as expressly allowed by Writingmate in writing.
2. Account and subscription access
Paid plans provide access to Writingmate features according to the plan, current product configuration, usage limits, and fair-use rules in effect at the time of use.
Plan features, model availability, rate limits, message limits, image limits, video limits, API access, and credit usage rules may change as the product evolves, as upstream model providers change their services, or as we adjust fair-use controls.
3. API access and developer keys
Writingmate may provide developer keys and an OpenAI-compatible API so you can connect your Writingmate workspace to your own tools, local clients, coding assistants, automation workflows, and similar personal or internal workflows.
The API is not a general-purpose production platform. Unless you have a separate written agreement with Writingmate, you may not use Writingmate API access to build, operate, host, provide, or resell software or services on top of Writingmate, including:
- a public application, SaaS product, wrapper, or hosted service;
- a commercial product where Writingmate API access is a core dependency;
- a proxy, gateway, marketplace, model router, or resale service;
- a customer-facing integration that depends on guaranteed Writingmate API availability, throughput, latency, quotas, model access, or compatibility.
The API is provided on an alpha, experimental, and fair-use basis. We do not guarantee API availability, uptime, latency, throughput, compatibility with OpenAI or any third-party SDK, model availability, output quality, rate limits, quotas, message limits, image limits, video limits, pricing, or continued access.
We may change, limit, suspend, disable, or revoke API access or developer keys at any time, including to protect service reliability, prevent abuse, control cost, comply with upstream provider requirements, or adjust the alpha API program.
If you need production-grade API guarantees, service-level commitments, dedicated capacity, resale rights, or permission to build a product on top of Writingmate, contact us first for a written agreement.
4. Fair use and usage limits
Writingmate is designed for normal individual and team usage. Heavy, automated, abusive, resale, or infrastructure-like usage may be limited, throttled, suspended, or blocked.
Usage limits may be daily, monthly, per-feature, per-model, per-workspace, per-user, per-key, or based on token, image, video, audio, request, cost, or provider constraints.
For more detail, see the Fair Use Policy.
5. Acceptable use
You may not use Writingmate to:
- violate laws or third-party rights;
- generate, upload, or distribute illegal, harmful, abusive, deceptive, or infringing content;
- probe, scan, attack, overload, reverse engineer, scrape, or bypass limits or security controls;
- share, leak, sell, or expose API keys, credentials, tokens, or private account data;
- use automated traffic in a way that degrades Writingmate or upstream providers;
- misrepresent Writingmate output as guaranteed, human-reviewed, legally binding, medically certified, financially approved, or otherwise authoritative without independent review.
We may investigate and restrict activity that we believe violates these terms or creates risk for Writingmate, users, providers, or third parties.
6. AI output and user responsibility
AI-generated output can be inaccurate, incomplete, offensive, or unsuitable for your use case. You are responsible for reviewing, validating, and deciding whether to use any output.
Writingmate does not provide legal, medical, financial, tax, investment, or professional advice. Do not rely on Writingmate output as a substitute for qualified professional judgment.
7. User content and data
You retain ownership of the content you submit to Writingmate and the outputs generated for you, subject to applicable law and third-party provider rules.
You grant Writingmate the rights needed to process, store, transmit, display, and use your content solely to provide and improve the service, maintain reliability, enforce limits, detect abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
For privacy details, see the Writingmate Privacy Policy.
8. Payments, cancellations, and refunds
Subscription billing, cancellations, downgrades, trials, and refunds are governed by the plan terms shown at checkout and the Writingmate Refund Policy.
You are responsible for keeping billing information current. If payment fails, we may suspend, downgrade, or limit your access.
9. Third-party providers
Writingmate relies on third-party model providers, infrastructure providers, payment processors, authentication providers, and other vendors. Their availability, pricing, policies, capabilities, and restrictions may change.
Writingmate is not responsible for third-party provider outages, limitations, policy changes, or output behavior.
10. Service changes and termination
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features, models, API endpoints, limits, pricing, or the service as a whole. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, create risk, or use the service in a way that harms Writingmate, users, providers, or third parties.
You may stop using Writingmate at any time. Account deletion and data deletion options are described in the product settings and privacy documentation.
11. Disclaimers
Writingmate is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, uninterrupted operation, availability, accuracy, compatibility, and error-free performance.
We do not guarantee that Writingmate, API access, model access, generated content, file processing, image generation, video generation, or third-party integrations will meet your requirements or remain available.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Writingmate will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, business interruption, substitute services, or losses caused by AI output, API changes, provider outages, account restrictions, or service unavailability.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we may notify users by email, in-product notice, or by updating this page. Continued use of Writingmate after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
